This morning didnt go as planned. I was up before my alarm around 4:45am but didnt get out of bed until about 6:00am. I found it kept waking up throughout the night either because my wife and moved a few inches or because one of our cats had started misbehaving. To top it off, my bank account was empty so when I got to the shell station for my normal pack of cigarettes and a red bull I didnt have the money to buy them. Thats the problem with most addiction people dont talk about. Its possible to make great money on your pay day and be completely broke by monday... vice is a huge expense for virtually everyone that participates... and drinking can be even more damaging to the wallet than other vices... because a pack of cigarettes may cost 16 bucks... but thats the equivalent of 1 red bull and vodka with tip... but anyone who is a drinker knows that you dont stop at just one drink. When I got to work I asked my wife to spot me $25 so I could get smokes and a redbull... luckily I went with the cheap smokes which are only 6 and change and a redbull so I should have enough money to do it again tomorrow. I know if I try to quit smoking at this point ill fail at everything. So its one vice at a time right now that im working on. If it takes me a another year to quit smoking... ill be happy as long as its been a year since I touched a drink. Work so far has been steady. And overall its a productive day. Im just trying to keep my head down and buried in my work. One of my coworkers seems on edge today... but everyone is working hard to get their work done. Im presently worried about tonight. Day 3 to day 4 can lead to some pretty major issues if I truly am functionally addicted to alcohol. I really wont know until tonight if its all in my head or if there is some sort of chemical dependence from it. Either way... the 20-40 dollars saved... 5 days a week... Will begin to add up quick... and im hoping in 3 months financially we are on track to pull ahead from the debt and start to develop some savings again.
So, seeing as I'm now out of work again I figure my current system isn't working. If i want to be successful in business and in life, then i need to get my basics down. Recently, I've started making sheets on excel to track what I'm doing everyday. they range everything from Diet and exercise to mood and symptoms. If i don't start tracking this stuff then I'm never going to make progress. While it's easy to put these items into practice using 1000s of apps... i found that just writing it all down on a few excel spreadsheets and tracking it by hand several times a day is a lot easier to remember. And it gets me off my phone. Lately I've be "Doom Scrolling" without any real purpose and what ends up happening is eventually the AI algorithm starts showing me videos of people dying in car crashes. Not exactly what makes me happy ya know. So I've got my lists and that's what I'll be working on for the foreseeable future while i attempt t...
